- Lesson/Powerpoint: Explosive Molecules. Build glucose (building block of carbohydrates) ,glycerol (building block of fats) and nitrites (all amino acids contain a nitrogen atom and are linked to nitrates/nitrites) using molecular model kits. Compare to structure of explosive molecules, most notably TNT and nitroglycerin. Convert glycerol model to nitroglycerin.
